Ursus maritimus
Aunque el Oso Polar (Ursus maritimus) no tiene subespecies validas debidos a su reciente aparición, que fue a finales del Pleistoceno, hace aproximadamente 15,000 años. El cambio evolutivo se produjo debido al aislamiento de un grupo de Osos pardos hace 20,000 años.
Ursus maritimus tyrannus
El Ursus maritimus tyrannus era esencialmente una subespecie de Oso Pardo que vivió en lo que hoy es Inglaterra a hace 25,000 años.
Su tamaño era muy superior al de un Oso Polar actual ya que media 1.90 m de alto hasta los hombros y 3.80 m de largo.
